Workforce expands four fold at timber frame housing company

This month marks the 18 month anniversary of the opening of Goodwins Timber Frame’s UK operation. In this time, the company has gone from strength to strength, growing from ten to over forty employees and securing multi-million pound contracts with major housebuilders.
Goodwins is one of the leading timber frame manufacturers in Ireland, and is part of a group that has been successfully established for over 27 years. Since 2004, with support from the Welsh Assembly Government and Caerphilly Borough Council, over £4 million has been invested in the UK operation in an 80,000 square foot state of the art manufacturing facility for timber frame housing kits near Newport, South Wales.
“ We are delighted to be on target with our growth plans as UK housebuilders see the quality output we offer, “ said Goodwins Timber Frame UK general manager, John Goodacre.
He added, “ With timber frame’s share of the UK housing market growing at a rate of 2% per annum we are well placed to capitalise on this with our current capacity to manufacture over 30 timber frame houses a week and the expansion potential we have on our 8 acre site."
.
The company has recently completed major projects for Wainhomes (SW), David McLean Homes, and Jistcourt (South Wales). 2007 has also got off to a flying start, securing a £1.2 million project with developers Cotswoldgate and work is also soon to start on five and four storey apartments for WAC contractors in Hastings.
Goodwins Timber Frame specialises in wall panels up to 12 metres in length which make for extremely fast construction on site.
