Romanian orphans to be first to benefit from Goodwins new factory
April 2005
One of the very first contracts to come off the production line at Goodwins new factory in Risca is a charitable contribution to the construction of an orphanage in Romania.
 |
Thanks to a business association with the Rugby International Jeremy Pugh, one of the driving forces behind a project known as the Builth Balkan Crew, Goodwins have offered to provide the timber frame kit for a 2000 ft2 extension to an orphanage for children with HIV/Aids in Ighisul-Nous, Sibiu, Romania. |
Goodwins are helping the Builth Balkan Crew, a group of compassionate people from mid Wales who are actively working in Romania, to help build a substantial extension to an existing small building known as the 'Sanctuary'. The extension will provide three new dormitories, greatly enlarged living space and play areas as well as a treatment room for children living with HIV/Aids. In addition, a hospice unit is also being completed at the site enabling special care to be given to terminally ill children and their families suffering the final stages of the aids virus. The project is being managed in Romania by Love Light Romania, a registered non-profit, non-governmental organisation, formed in 1997 and dedicated to caring for neglected children, particularly those suffering with HIV/Aids.
A shipment of construction frames is due to be shipped out to Romania in mid May and more information about this project can be found by visiting the web site: www.builthbalkancrew.com
